The United States and Canada are experiencing an increased young driver population after years of a decreased population due to the baby boom echo. Simultaneously, enrollment in Driver's Education courses has declined. With our technological advancements as a society, we should be able to offer a high tech, more comprehensive training system for our young drivers.

Studies show that for effective and lasting crash prevention techniques to be taught both skill and motivational aspects must be addressed effectively. Therefore, educational training and behavioral change intervention is needed to produce a decrease in the amount of traffic crashes in young drivers. New drivers need to learn to handle a vehicle as well as interact with other road users. It takes several years for a driver to reach mature risk levels as the only way to reach this level is by gaining experience.

The linking of parents and community influences as well as personal involvement and incentives would likely have positive results. These results would likely be produced within each individual community through its own efforts. Interactive media could be used to enhance perceptual and decision skills. Studies show that video games can increase attentional capacity. Therefore, the integration of interactive gaming type activities could help improve these skills. Integrating this curriculum to areas of personal and social values, risk taking, self esteem, peer pressure, health protection etc. could foster an ingrained understanding of the subject matter. Pairing a deep understanding of the responsibility to other drivers with the skill needed to operate a vehicle safely is an optimal situation.

Driver's Education definitely needs to be updated. It will benefit us as a society to have skilled, confident and prepared drivers on the road. Small advancements have been made. Many states are allowing a student to take an approved CD ROM based or online course. There is also a downloadable Drivers Ed PC Game. Prospective drivers can practice driving online and complete practice tests with this interactive game. However, the posted reviews of this game indicate that partakers found this game non-engaging and boring. This may not be a representative sample as people who enjoy the game may be too busy playing to fill out the review!

Offering an option of time in a driving simulator would be a great motivator to get new drivers to attend Driver's Ed. Interactive computer software games that propose different situations and scores according to the drivers handling of the situation is a less expensive suggestion. Take into consideration the video gaming phenomenon and then show me a teenager that refuses to practice his video game! Video gaming can accomplish both the educational training and the behavioral change intervention.

Post baby boom echo has found an increased young driver population for the United States and Canada. This increase in new drivers is accompanied by a decline in enrollment in Driver's Education courses. We should be able to offer a high tech, more comprehensive training system for our young drivers. Driving simulators and driving video games are two promising avenues for revamping Driver's Education!

Regardless of what role you play in your child's education and development, every extra certainly helps in how they develop. This means that regardless of whether, or not, your child is home schooled you should be doing whatever you can to ensure they develop as a person through being given the best chance in life through their education. As a parent, one way that you can improve your child's education and development is through using educational software that is specifically designed for teaching children.

Toddlers

When your child is not yet able to read or write, don't feel that it is not possible to educate them and make them learn processes and other learning mechanisms which they can benefit from for the rest of their life. Many parents believe that teaching their child at this stage is far less valuable than teaching them practical applications of their skills in later years. However, one of the best ways to teach your child, at this age, can be through using educational software that has been designed on the back of decades of research surrounding how young children digest information and benefit from it in the long term. On one level, through using educational software, your children will become far more computer savvy than they otherwise would. They will be accustomed to how one can engage with a user interface through a control pad or keyboard. This, of course, is far from the only benefit. Educational software is usually designed to be fun for children and enhance their learning at the same time. If you decide to explore the educational software with your child, and also let them engage with it on their own, you can also help to develop a bond with your child.

Young Children

Young children can use educational software to further enhance their IT skills on one level. However, they can also use it as a means of being taught new, and the same things, in an innovative way that is proven to have results. Educational software adds a new dimension to how children are taught, other than by their parents and at school, which can ultimately reinforce what they already know and help them to understand things that they were otherwise having problems with at school. It is important that you do not just use educational software to keep your child up-to-date with the curriculum – you should also use it as a means of developing their learning and problem solving skills.

Teens

When your child reaches their teenage years, educational software can still play a massive role in how your child develops. When they get to this age, they can use educational software to learn general knowledge, problem solving skills and subject specific learning. This means that instead of learning how to read, for example, they can learn about historic events and how to calculate maths problems. These are things that they can be taught through software, because they now have the platform in place – in terms of reading, writing and, arithmetic skills - to develop and learn.

In recent years, computers have become an integral part of everyday life. Now, more people own computers than ever before, and the numbers continue to rise. As a result, children are learning how to use computers in school at a much earlier age than ever before.

There is a wide array of educational software available for children of all ages. This provides you, the parent, with many options when choosing educational software for your children. Since many educational games have been shown to help children learn and improve their skills in many subjects, these games have become an important part of a child's learning experience. But choosing the right educational software makes all the difference. For this reason, it is essential to take care when choosing computer software for your children.

The best educational software is designed by people who know how children think. By nature, children like to see, touch, and interact with a thing in order to learn about it. This same concept also applies to computer software. For this reason, interactive applications have become so prevalent. Among these, there are many different types of software applications. Some are actual simulations, while others are open-ended creativity tools. There are also a number of structured activities available for the computer such as puzzles, tutorials, and reference titles. They are made by the 700+ publishers that specialize in educational items.

Because there are so many options available to you, selecting those that will truly help your child to learn may seem like an overwhelming task. This, however, does not have to be the case. When choosing computer software for your child, there are a few factors you should consider.

First, make sure you choose software that your child will be able to operate. This is especially important if you have a small child, as he or she will probably only be able to use the mouse. Be sure the application you choose accommodates this, as your child's attention span will probably not last very long, otherwise.

When choosing software, you should also take care to select programs and games that best fit the interests of your child. While it is wonderful to encourage the learning of new skills and acceptance of new ideas, your child is less likely to take part in something of which he or she has little or no interest. Introducing your child to newer concepts and skills more gradually, however, may peak their interest and help build character and skill.

Children's educational software comes in several types. These are especially designed for teaching users the basics of subjects, from reading and math to geography. Educational software is more intended to educate kids and is easy to use for ages of even three. Depending on the aim, educational software might be planned as a classroom help or could be used for home purpose. The most accepted educational software is normally known as edutainment, meaning it is a game in which users play and learn at the same time.

Classroom educational software typically educates about the subject matter according to a set of courses tracks students' growth as they complete sections or levels. As a teaching help, it permits children that might not otherwise have access to a computer to learn while improving basic computer skills, such as mouse and keyboard use, at an early age.

There is as well a huge range of titles and kinds of educational software intended for use at home act as an addition to classroom learning, and even for the reason of comfortable education. Educational software surrounding almost every subject educated in school is broadly available for home use. Similar to classroom plans, many educational software titles considered for home use orbit a child's progress and alter the subject accordingly. There are titles, which severely teach by proven examples and then quiz children on material, and then there are the even more in style edutainment titles, which slot in the subject matter into a game.

Educational software stated gaining fame and recognition day by day as an option learning technique in the mid-nineties, and developers have also turn up with more new concepts to gather consumer demands for excellence and interactive educational software. Once intended for use with a home or for the classroom computer, educational software is now even on hand for moveable learning systems. While there are considerably fewer titles on hand for portable learning systems such as the Leapster, there are yet numerous titles varying in age suitability and subject matter that making learning active possible.

To get the most out of educational software, spend in titles that have adaptable learning levels to develop with your child and check user reviews for titles, which are both amusing and have replay value.

In this high-tech world, anything that can be stored is termed as "software". The storage devices and display devices are hardware. In general terms, computer software is defined as a collection of computer programmes, procedures and documentation that performs some tasks on a computer system. The term includes application software such as a word processor which perform productive task for users, system software such as an operating system, which interfaces with the hardware to provide the necessary services for application software, and middleware, which controls and co-ordinates distributed system.
Computers cannot do any useful work without instructions from the software; thus a combination of software and hardware is necessary to do any computerized work. A program must tell the computer each of the tasks to be performed, in a framework of logic, so that the computer knows exactly what to do and when to do it.
To make learning fun, educational computer softwares are in much demand. The approach of teaching by means of games are used in tutorials in which learners competes with themselves. Such a software appeals to persons of all ages but particularly to young children, who can learn skills related to reading and arithmetic. Older children and adults can learn or improve on a wide variety of more mature skills.
With the advent of technology, people are becoming tech-savvy. Even kids know computers like back of their hands. With online shopping stores becoming a rage, people are in awe of using more and more of computer softwares. There are many educational softwares available online. One just needs to download these softwares and make the most out of it. Young children are benfiting most out of this scenario. This not only makes them understand the nitty-gritties of the practical world but also helps them in becoming a better human being.

Creativity in school educational software isn't always a given, but if we are to unleash the talent that often lies dormant, we must open up both our world and that of our children so that they can explore and create in a safe and fun environment. Pen and paper is the natural medium for many, even today in this world of fast paced technology and exciting innovation. I applaud this loyalty to the old ideals, but I also embrace the keyboard, mouse and the screen. They offer opportunity to let escape those secret thoughts without inhibition and either glory in them or store them for another day. The children of the 21st century need this exposure to the world of computing and if they are to compete with their rivals and come out victors they need to be able to combine the technical with the creative; these worlds need to merge.

Have you ever thought of writing from personal experience; anything can be a stimulus.

  • A walk at dusk – experience it, then write it.
  • A response to a piece of music.
  • An argument between siblings.
  • After watching your favourite film, use extracts and re-write them. Yet another way to benefit from the educational software that is out there.

Try to write alongside your children, give yourself a short time frame so that ideas erupt and then read them to each other. Crafting can come later. Sharing the experience, identifying your unique writing voice and discussing how to improve is the learning curve neither adult nor child can afford to avoid. It is an opportunity for you to grow too, so that you keep in touch with the world in which your child will have to be a part of, will want to be a part of, but this can come after your child has explored the software in question. They can become your teacher, at least giving you insight into the merit of the school educational software they are using. Let them be judge and jury. It has to be worth the risk?

This is where school educational software can help. Most software offers children the opportunity to create their characters as they go, to review there story and even have it read back to them so they can check that the story flows. This can be particularly useful for children who are unable to hold a pen and paper.

What's the Point?

Story infiltrates our everyday lives, it encourages a voice, helps us identify pattern and character. In school life, no subject is free of it. Creativity in English, indeed across all subjects is not an option, it is essential for lifelong learning. School educational software can help to encourage your child with the wide range of options which allow them to start their own creative world, but it certainly should not be the only tool they use. Whatever you decide to use, remember it is only a tool and any tool that engages your child has to be worth the time and effort.

Is your child's creative future important enough to investigate whether school educational software can help them?

Using computer educational software in the classroom can assist students learn quickly and also, having some fun in the process. Naturally, educational software, no matter how great or user-friendly they may be, cannot replace a live and inhaling teacher. It can, however, increase the learnings of key ideas and provide fun during playtime.

It it's effortless to utilize educational software, it is effortless to find copies of them online. If you try to search on Google or Yahoo, you'll view multiple sites that you can purchase the software from. Through the years, software companies have been designing a wide range of educational software - from the very basic to the more complicated ones. Prior to doing a shopping spree, there are few things you need to bear in mind.

- Keep it related. If you're teaching read and writing, you don't want to be buying science software teaching students the different critters you can find in the animal kingdom. So bear in mind the subject you're instructing. Take note also of the features of the software? Do they help press key concepts in the student's mind?

- Put "fun" and "entertaining" in the equation. Buy softwares that is only fun to use. Stay away from software that uses boring graphics and boring voice-overs.

- Keep in mind the levels. Different students are at different levels of intelligence. When you're analyzing a software, be sure that there are varied levels that your students can be at. Having different (beginner, intermediate and advanced) levels built into the software will simply challenge students ante up their skills and increase their knowledge.

If you're buying reading and writing educational software, make sure that it has different levels. At the beginner's level, the reading level should be close to what your students have been reading at the start of classes. At the higher levels, the software should feature more items to reinforce the student's current level of learning, and at the same time challenge their current skills and knowledge.

Using educational software should be effortless. Most programs simply ask for one answer from the student. If he or she answered correctly, a buzz will sound or a picture will be displayed to reward the student for the correct answer. The best type of educational software enhances the student's logical thinking, and assists them learn how to think.

- Keep it fun yet non-distracting. Visual elements (graphics, videos and interactive features) can easily get a student's attention. That's because today's students are oriented more towards visuals. On the other hand, if your software displays graphics that are too flashy, it would be bothersome to students. A sufficient education software is a good mix of education and fun.

- Just buy DVD if you just want to show videos. Heed this advice if you dislike to go through the whole drill of directing students through the levels of an educational software. Don't forget though that videos and software can never replace a live and breathing teacher.

When we talk about educational software, we notice a much evident feature attributed to them. They are rather less-commercialized in nature, unlike other popular software. Their main purpose is to impart education in an exclusively interactive way.

Thus using ultra innovative educational software will not help you make enormous money, but of course it can help the students understand concepts in a much better way.

The rising popularity of interactive based teaching, equipped with real-life experience, forced the professionals, dealing with education system, to escape from the conventional instruction based teaching. Rather, they adopted audiovisual design in classrooms empowered by educational software.

Undoubtedly, results with a difference were soon very much evident. The evaluators found that the learners, especially kids, were more entranced when the teacher used multimedia devices to elaborate any concept. The students, seeing visuals added with audio, were comprehensively comfortable and gave their maximum attention while the session went on.

Thus this satisfying evaluation led numerous companies to jump into the field of developing educational software. Of course, we can say, at some extent, that the competition amongst the companies to come up with the best educational software has given it a commercial undertone. However, this commercialization is solely meant for education, thus it can be bearable.

As the educational software tend to be interactive, the kids get greater chances to discuss a topic and clear the doubts, if any. Thus, as a result, they become more vocal and can have their personal point of views on a certain topic. It helps a lot to develop their communication skills.

Thus the software companies are developing a series of interactive educational software with the help of educational software developers who are well versed with the students psychology and their needs. They are also trained to understand the demand of syllabus and curriculum of the related educational institution.

For example; educational software like Kidspiration, Microsoft office, Inspiration, iLife etc are the flag bearers in this regard. Such educational software help the students of various grades in the better planning, evaluation and comprehension of the subject matters.

Inspiration is most suitable for students studying in grades between 6-12. Also educational software for all age groups and grades can be found at Educational Software Reviews.

Moreover, the ongoing boom in online and distant education system would not have been a possibility without the advent of these educational software. A student, miles away from the schools and colleges, learns successfully a concept, all because of the audiovisual aid.

Now that computer programs have become easier to make and use, more parents and teachers are taking advantage of their incredible educational value.

Children really enjoy having fun while they learn and this is the main factor that makes educational software such an effective tool. With innumerable ways to include graphics, sound effects, games and other activities in educational software, it is little wonder that children are excited to spend time learning.

For example, I was always excited to use one of the math programs at my elementary school. As I remember it, every time I solved a math problem correctly, my race car got to move further around the track. Even though I didn't enjoy doing math at my desk with paper and pencil, I learned the skills that I needed because I enjoyed playing that game. This shows that with the right incentive any child can be eager to tackle the next problem. And, by making learning fun, you can actually help cultivate a love for learning in your child.

Using a tool that children enjoy also eliminates a lot of the energy previously needed to persuade students to focus on their work. And, because of its availability, educational software can be used in either a school or home setting. This means you can improve information retention by reinforcing the things your child studies at school. For example, instead of buying a game with little or no educational value that promotes violence and blowing things up, why not invest in a game that teaches math skills, new vocabulary words, geography, science or history.

Working with educational software will also help children develop useful computer skills. Typing, opening programs and saving material will all help prepare them for using the computer in future education. I have seen this increased ability in my own little sister. Even as a five-year-old, she really knows her way around a laptop. She is much more computer savvy than I was at her age and it probably won't be long before she passes up my parents.

Once children learn how to use the program, reviewing material can be done independently too. This will not only improve self-confidence and independence, but it will free up some time for parents and teachers too.

When you shop for educational software, pay attention to both the grade level and the skill sets that it has been designed for. Even fun programs can get discouraging if the problems are too advanced.
